my treatments
What to ExpectYour Initial Visit will be 75 minutes in length and will include a review of your health history, your current health concerns and lifestyle. Orthopedic and manual testing may be done to identify any musculo-skeletal imbalances.
- The high quality Japanese-style acupuncture needles I use are packaged, sterile and discarded after each use. They are less than the diameter of a human hair (not anything like those used for injections), so most people don’t feel any discomfort when the needle is inserted.
You may feel a tingle, a dull ache or an electrical sensation, which means the needle has activated energy inside your body for healing.
I also use tuning forks to enhance therapeutic effect and when necessary, I use alternatives to needles like acupressure, cupping, laser stimulation, cranial sacral, magnet therapy or herbal medicine to enhance your therapy.
- Many patients become very relaxed and fall into a restorative sleep during their treatment.
Follow up treatments will be 45-60 minutes where we review your response to acupuncture and any herbal medicine prescribed, then treat your current energetic state.
I recommend limiting or avoiding caffeine at least 2 hours prior to and after your appointment so your body has an opportunity to relax and reboot.
The frequency of your treatment will depend on your response to acupuncture. For some results are felt immediately, for others the effects may take time as the body gradually heals at a deeper level.
If your condition is acute, fewer treatments are typically needed. If it’s a chronic health concern, you may need more sessions to establish a new pattern in your body.
I see optimal results with patients who commit to 1-2 treatments weekly, for a minimum of 6 visits. This will gives us adequate time to evaluate if acupuncture is going to be effective for your health condition.
